How about a puppet adventure to far away lands. Either use a scenic background scroll or a scenic background wheel. Scroll or change the wheel for every different background. The main character travels to other countries with a teleporter magical ring. You can use a strobe for that effect. It would be easy to pick out parts of the world you can write material on. You could even have him transport back into time for a historical educational puppet show. The most needed would be 2 puppets. You could have him travelling the world to find the magic of LOVE, such as The Key of L has been sighted near the Himalayas, The Orb of O was thought to be inside a Pyramid of the great Pharaohs. The Crystals of V and the Medallion of E...and so on...Make it a purposeful adventure.

For effects, Smoke machine and flash paper make a great and easy effect...push of a button or strike of a match.

With a one man show you really need to keep the audiences attention. Your act has to be down and perfected. If you falter it can hamper your show.

I would say start as simple as possible, then build onto that foundation.
I made a portable hand puppet stage with tv trays that fit perfectly in the back of my car and don't weigh a thing. I have seen a very creative portable puppet stage that was using a dolley (spelling?) as the base. Very ingenius idea I must say! It would be perfect for the old Punch and Judy routines. Yes, I agree that Punch and Judy might be a good start....especially with the style of your dolls. There are plenty of people here who can assist you with the Punch and Judy routines.

Of course you don't need a stage at all either. Some of the best performances of puppetry that I have seen have the puppeteer in plain view during the performance. When I work with my marionettes, I do not use a stage at all. I just wear black and I think it helps to bring the focus on the marionette.

But enough about stages....you want scripts! I too am finding it hard to find one man shows and am now developing my own put to CDs with sound effects and everything....see....I'm a lazy puppeteer and just want to move my puppets to a CD....HA HA HA.

I used this link when I started out with puppetry until I started writing my own scripts. I really enjoyed "Kiss the Brown Bunny."

A strolling stage using the humanette puppet in various costumes/painting would be another fun idea. Check out this talented performer: http://www.peterpuppet.co.uk/humanettes.htm
Watch as much puppetry as possible. Go buy/rent some Muppet movies. Check out the bonus features in each movie. They will show you how they move and animate the puppets...Dark Crystal has a great one. Once you see the "behind the scenes" you'll get a better knowledge on how puppets are controlled.

You tube has a variety of Marionette clips you could study off of to understand that aspect of puppetry. I haven't tried Marionettes yet so I cant really give much info on those.

Imitate. Watch how people move to situations. Exaggerate those movements.

I use parts of famous movie scripts and work this as a practice with my puppet group. It's a fun and good practice. If you remember the movie...you remember the movements. This helps build movement with speech.

You might even want to have a prerecorded CD with background music, sound effects and possibly a second or 3rd off stage voice. This works great with a one man show....as long as you know your cues, it can be very very simple.
You can get some puppet script ideas on this website:

hey i got this idea and tot i could put it forward. its nothing to do with puppetry, but i tot it would help rock the kids party.
y dont u have a mini skit sort of a thing where the real, popular, animated characters, like those pokemon, doremon and stuffs like tat, are coming together to do some funny stuffs. Real animated characters in the sense, people wearing the outfit of those and acting like it, in a drama revolving around them, u gettin it??. kids would be quite excited to see them live in front of them and doing things what they usually see at T.V. and could even b something more, like also interacting with them, u know, something like tat. If puppetry is your determined thing, then u could use these characters and play them.
I dono wheather i helped u or not, but anyways thanks for hearing me

regards
Sanjeev
Hey Sanjeev its quite a nice idea...though Having a puppet show in mind.. But still tis can also be put together.
thanks
